BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

Under the supervision of the PAO, is responsible for the overall management, strategic planning and electronic operating environment of information Resource Center in the Public Affairs Section. Addresses the research, reference and information needs of the Post’s countrywide public affairs program. Plans and implements a pro-active outreach program to advance the Mission’s objectives. Supervises the IRC Assistant.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

1. Education: Master’s degree in information science, political science, international affairs, English or American Studies is required.

2. Experience: Five to seven years progressively responsible professional experience in at least one of the following areas: information management, development and delivery of training programs, or public information outreach programs is required. Two years supervisory experience is required.

3. Language: Level IV English in both spoken and written English and French, with the ability to write analytical reports and to conduct outreach presentations to audiences at all levels is required.

4. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Togolese social, religious, political, and historical contexts required and professional knowledge of US research and references sources is required.

5. Abilities: Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of electronic information databases and internet resources required. Excellent interpersonal skills to work with American and Togolese Embassy personnel as well as the ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with high-level Togolese contacts is required.
